Dubrovnik – UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.and one of the most prominent tourist resort of the Mediterranean.

The city was built on maritime trade and was the only city in the Adriatic to rival Venice.

Furthermore, Dubrovnik was one of the centers of the development of the Croatian language and literature, home to many notable poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars.
